Neighborhoods Connect SUMMIT -- A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!

The first NEIGHBORHOODS CONNECT STAKEHOLDER SUMMIT, held on February 21st, 2015, on the ASU Downtown Campus, was a huge success!  Over 200 neighborhood stakeholders from across Phoenix participated.  Mayor Stanton, Councilwoman Laura Pastor, Councilman Danny Valenzuela, and City Manager Ed Zuercher were there to lend their support, adding to that already given to the effort by all of the City departments that interact with neighborhoods.

It was a high-energy session, with active, enthusiastic participation from an array of neighborhood leaders, students from the Phoenix Police Department Explorer and Wake Up programs, representatives from the offices of Congressman Ruben Gallego, Councilman Bill Gates, and Councilwoman Thelda Williams, as well as non-profit organizations, businesses, the Phoenix Police and Fire Departments, and every City department involved with neighborhoods.

This wonderful collection of engaged attendees shared approaches that are working in their neighborhoods, challenges they face, and resources they've found helpful.  At the end of the day, the group came up with a valuable list of roles that NEIGHBORHOODS CONNECT can play to help "connect, support, and build healthy, flourishing neighborhoods."  One of the things they liked most about the day was making connections with other neighborhood leaders and stakeholders.  The directory of participants they've requested is under construction and will appear on its own page on our site shortly.

We are most grateful to all of the participants, who took a day out of their busy lives to join us, as well as for the hearty support of the City of Phoenix, and the remarkable Phoenix Neighborhood Services and Parks Departments, who could not have been more helpful!

We also sincerely thank our major supporters, whose generosity made the day possible --- and were a complete joy to work with:
